The distribution of booklets promoting awareness about the rights and privileges of disabled individuals and people with disabilities is underway. These booklets are being distributed to citizens and public places to encourage collective and individual efforts to assist people with disabilities. It's important to note that assistance goes beyond providing financial support. The most significant form of help for people with disabilities is to "respect them instead of feeling sorry for them." Assistance can involve aiding them in navigating stairs or sidewalks, providing support in offices, shops, and markets, and helping them articulate their concerns appropriately. Let's be mindful of our language as well: Instead of saying "blind," say "visually impaired." Instead of saying "deaf," say "individual with hearing impairment." Instead of saying "dumb," say "non-verbal." Instead of using derogatory terms, choose more respectful alternatives. We should strive to foster inclusivity and treat individuals with disabilities as valued members of our community, whether they are family, friends, or relatives. This campaign is a joint effort by the Halabja Disabled Organization in collaboration with Handicap International. Best regards.
